Omron Relay Cross-Reference and Socket Compatibility Guide

An OMRON relay cross-reference must match more than the relay body. OMRON publishes clear relay-to-socket compatibility for the MY and G2R families — this guide organizes it by pole/base class, contact rating and socket, with the checks that matter before you order.

Quick Answer

An OMRON relay cross-reference must match more than the relay body. The contact form, number of poles, coil voltage, AC/DC coil, indicator/test button, built-in diode or CR circuit, terminal style and socket all matter. OMRON publishes clear relay-to-socket compatibility for the MY and G2R families; those combinations are safer to use than assuming that two plug-in relays with similar dimensions are interchangeable.

SELECTION WARNING

"Same 8-pin base" is not a replacement claim

A relay can plug in and still be wrong

Do not turn "same 8-pin base" into a direct-replacement claim. A relay can physically plug into a socket and still have the wrong contact arrangement, coil voltage, suppression polarity or contact rating.

Engineering warning

Relay contact current and socket carry current are separate limits. Also consider the real load: lamps, solenoids, contactor coils and DC inductive loads can have inrush or arc behavior very different from a resistive load.

LIFECYCLE CAUTION

Don't call MY2N → MY2N-GS-R a universal successor without evidence

The current OMRON portfolio includes the MY family and the current MY-GS-R lineup in different configurations. It is useful to discuss older MY2N / MY4N requests alongside current MY2N-GS-R / MY4N-GS-R options, but we do not state a lifecycle claim such as "MY2N is officially replaced by MY2N-GS-R" unless an OMRON product-replacement record for the exact reference supports it.

HOW WE HELP

The ElecBridge sourcing assessment

  1. Identify the exact relay and coil voltage first; do not quote from a shortened family name.
  2. Check the existing socket model. For MRO jobs, preserving the socket can reduce wiring risk.
  3. If the exact legacy relay is unavailable, identify a current OMRON configuration only after contact form, coil and socket are confirmed.
  4. If OMRON is not mandatory, a cost-down relay can be evaluated, but the contact rating, pinout, coil suppression and approvals must be matched and sample-tested where downtime risk is material.

FAQ

OMRON relay cross-reference — frequently asked

Q.01
What socket fits OMRON G2R-1-S?
OMRON lists P2RF-05-PU for Push-In Plus and P2RFZ-05-E for the protected screw-terminal style, among other compatible socket options.
Q.02
What socket fits OMRON G2R-2-S?
OMRON lists P2RF-08-PU for Push-In Plus and P2RFZ-08-E for the protected screw-terminal style.
Q.03
What socket fits an OMRON MY2 relay?
For the MY 2-pole / 8-pin class, OMRON lists options including PYF-08-PU and PYFZ-08-E. Confirm the exact relay variant.
Q.04
Can I replace G2R-1-S with G2R-2-S?
No. G2R-1-S is a one-pole SPDT class while G2R-2-S is a two-pole DPDT class; the socket and contact ratings also differ.
Q.05
Can I use a 24 VDC relay in place of a 24 VAC relay?
No. The coil type must match the control voltage and circuit. Similar nominal voltage does not make AC and DC coils interchangeable.
Q.06
Is MY2N-GS-R 24 VDC a direct replacement for every old MY2N 24 VDC relay?
Do not assume so from the family name and coil voltage alone. Verify the exact legacy suffix, socket, contact configuration, indicator/suppression features, pinout and OMRON replacement information.
